Porch and Door
The porch was added in the 15th century. With its stone benches, it was often used for secular meetings and some minor church services in the Middle Ages. It is typical of a West Riding porch, with its pointed ribbed barrel vault and stone slab roof.
The doors are of solid oak, well studded. They have no lock, but instead have a wooden bar let into the wall, which is pulled across to secure.
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever.” Psalm 100 v4-5
Lord thank you for welcoming me into the peace of your house. Help me to know your presence here.
